Display - NH Techno to Produce Glass Substrates in Korea

Japanese glass substrate maker NH Techno Glass and four other Japanese companies have signed contracts to invest a total of around US$450 million in Kyunggi Province, South Korea to establish production lines for electronic parts.

 

NH Techno Glass plans to lay down US$150 million to build a LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) glass substrate plant near Seoul, while M&S Fine Tech, maker of large LCD panel grinding machines, is investing US$15 million to set up a factory with a South Korean  operator, each holding a 50% stake. Takeuchi, CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) circuit board drilling machine maker, is throwing in US$10 million to construct a production site; Nissan Chemical will be allotting US$10 million to raise an ARC (Anti-Reflective Coating) plant and R&D center in Chupal Industrial Complex.

 

One other company is said to have sign a US$270 million deal to manufacture LCD equipment and parts in Kyunggi.
